Ladies and gentlemen, we are very excited to announce that we have finally secured a home for our brewery! It’s been a tough 150 days since we abandoned the railway arch we had previously pinned our hopes on, and first came across the property listing for the units we've just got the keys for. In that time we have been through so many highs and lows and countless spreadsheets as we worked to meet the expectations of local authorities, legislation and regulations, and our new landlord (our license is in the bag, but we're still working on planning permissions). Even though there have been times that we felt immense pressure as we worked to prepare paperwork and source information about everything from building codes to our hour by hour steam requirements, we now feel prepared, informed and very ready to start our fit out. We’re about to start a programme of works to transform two warehouse units into a fantastic brewery that’s only a stone’s throw from Manchester city centre.
Our brewery is going to be in Piccadilly Trading Estate, a mere 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station, or 8 minutes from New Islington tram stop. The image above, courtesy of Manchester Libraries, Information and Archives, Manchester City Council, shows the site in its former incarnation as Ancoats Goods Depot. Check out the location map.
There’s an incredible amount of work to do and oversee, and a lot of announcements to come over the next eight weeks before the end of the year, so stay tuned to the blog (or if you prefer our Instagram or Twitter accounts, or our Facebook page) for fit out updates, more information about our brewery as it gets installed, and importantly, information about when we hope to actually get brewing.
To those of you that have supported us with your kind words and enthusiasm so far, an earnest thank you! And to those of you just tuning in now, welcome! With so much to do we may not be as quick off the mark as we would like to be in responding to your tweets or comments, but don’t let that stop you saying hello or asking questions along the way.
