This Ain't The Beer That You're Used To

‘This Ain’t the Beer That You’re Used To’ is an honest, approachable introduction to beer, sharing Dom “Doochie” Cook’s personal journey through beer appreciation and education. It is the perfect book for anyone new to beer, or any enthusiast wanting to dive deeper and rekindle a love for the many classic beers that paved the way for craft beer as it unfolds today. Part memoir, part guide, and part call to action through discovery, this is a book on how to enjoy the full breadth of beer, written in Dom’s straight talking voice. “Good beer for all” is the call, and Dom’s book leads us through styles and suggested beers to try which are relatively in reach. If you do struggle to find one of his many recommended beers (whether you’re new to beer, or an enthusiast, you should make a point of trying them all), please do contact us on social media so we can help you find a suitable alternative from what we are currently enjoying.

We are incredibly excited to be offering ‘This Ain’t the Beer That You’re Used To’ for sale in both Unit 9 and 73 Enid Street, as well as our online shop this week. Profits from the sale of the book will go towards a fund we are setting up to further “Good beer for all,” centred on increasing inclusivity with an aim to further diversity in the beer community and industry, which will enrich the experience of every beer drinker.

What’s more, we at Cloudwater will match the profits from the sale of Beer Kulture books with our own contribution into the fund, because we want to do more to build a positive scene that encompasses everyone and welcomes new friends into the fold. We are grateful to have such a great industry around us, but to pull in people of all backgrounds and perspectives, whom we have so much to learn from, and who can contribute to our tap rooms, our breweries, our media and to what’s in our glass, we need to take ownership of the privileges that continue to present us with opportunities that are out of reach for so many. Our fund will look to hold the door open for those yet to be welcomed in, so they can help shape who beer is, and what beer can become.

Thanks Dom, and the rest of the Beer Kulture crew for the call to action. Please consider this just our first step.

If you have ideas of how we can serve or better serve you and your community, if we can host your community event at our tap rooms, or if we can help you make a place for people like you in British beer, please drop us an email here.
