Job Vacancy: Brewer

We are excited to announce that a much loved member of our brewing team is leaving us to take a precious opportunity, and travel with his partner, in pursuit of their dreams. Though we are immensely sad that we’ll soon no longer find our spirits lifted because of his infectious positive energy, and though we’ll sorely miss his years and years of experience that have helped us progress the quality of our beers and our brewing ideas, we look forward to watching the next phase of their life unfold, and many well earned successes come their way. And we look forward to welcoming in a new team member, and being shaped by their energy and their dreams.

This role is in our production team, and is open to European nationals (with existing permission to live and work in the UK), and uniquely qualified brewers from elsewhere in the world (with skills and experiences that set you apart enough for you to present as uniquely qualified to join us, despite our resident labour market). Though our aim is to hire within the notice period given, to ensure a seamless orientation and hand over, this position, as with all positions at Cloudwater Brew Co, is open to people of all backgrounds, in fitting with our Equality and Equity Policy.

This role will centre on brewing production batches of beer (24hL) several times per week, with brewing shifts starting from 6am until 12pm, over a 40 hour working week. You will work closely with the rest of our wort production team, our production manager, the cellar and packaging teams, and with warehousing, sales, and retail teams in pursuit of excellent beer experiences for our customers. You will also be required to perform a range of tasks to exacting standards across our cellar and packaging equipment, including CIPs, sterile yeast handling, in-house lab analysis, SOP development and record keeping, weekend tours of the brewery, festival and event appearances for our customers, and health and safety focused cleaning and organising of the entire workplace.

In exchange for your commitment to excellence, for a rolling average of 40 hours work a week, and flexibility to see tasks completed to the highest standards when circumstances change, we will frame our company growth to encompass your personal growth, provide you with training, educational opportunities, and external experiences to help you learn and develop on the job, treat you and your unique life experiences and circumstances with dignity and respect, welcome you into our social and professional circles, and pay you a salary of £25,000-30,000 depending on your training and orientation requirements.

If you would like to apply for our Brewer vacancy, please fill out this job application form and have your CV ready to upload. We are accepting applications via this form until Sunday, the 18th of August at 5pm.

Cloudwater Brew Co is a small brewery in Manchester, UK, with a focus on making seasonal beers, exciting flavour combinations, and relaxing experiences for our customers, and a positive and progressive environment centred on the personal growth, holistic health and happiness of our team. We will package and ship 10,000hL of beer this year, as well as produce a small range of alcohol-free soda for our sister company Good Call Soda Co, pilot batches of beer for our tap rooms and small customer groups, and expand into two additional warehouses within our trading estate that will see us able to organically grow our production to 12,000-13,000hL next calendar year. We look forward to receiving your application, CV, and covering letter via the form here.

Equality and Equity Policy

Our Equality and Equity Policy seeks to address and correct systemic, societal, and global friction, bias, and prejudice through hiring, training, and on the job support with an intent to extend extra help and opportunities to those society has disadvantaged.

Though equal opportunity is a noble aim, we take into account that the world we live in continues to place obstacles, and emotional and physical violence in the way of women, people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, and intersectional, non-conformist people everywhere.

We will seek, from our analysis of job applications, to on the job development, to level the playing field, and provide you with the unique training, support, understanding, and skills necessary for you to succeed.

We recognise that the UK brewing industry currently lacks the diversity we long to see become the norm. Though our job listings often express our desire to hire a candidate with existing industry or role based experiences, the current demographic of the UK brewing industry does not yet reflect that of wider society.

We will actively see your existing experiences, whether based in brewing, or distinctly different roles or applications, as highly transferable skills.

At Cloudwater Brew Co, we believe that your passion and potential are more important than your past achievements. That your love for people is more important than your love of beer.

On the job performance reviews will take into account your unique life experiences, and the unique pressures you face, and seek to foster personal growth within your development in your role. Our culture will be shaped by your needs.

Our Equality and Equity Policy recognises that good intentions are only the first step, and must be met with good outcomes.
