Portals (x Salford Women's Aid) | English Porter
For The Women That Led The Way. To The Women That Lead The Way
A nod to the history of women in beer, this traditional style English Porter is full bodied and slightly sweet, using a simple, darker malt bill and the addition of wheat for head retention.
To make this English Porter we added traditional English hop Ernest in the whirlpool to provide a light spiced apricot aroma and we have also used the same yeast as Afterhede, our sister beer, brewed in partnership with Salford Women's Aid, for a clean and paired fermentation profile.
Brewed on International Women's Day in support of Salford Women's Aid - a feminist organisation established in 1976, with a rich history of supporting, training and encouraging women to bring about positive change for themselves, their family and their communities. They also offer temporary accommodation and support for women and children who are affected by domestic abuse. On the brew day we invited anyone to come celebrate International Women's Day with us, involving our local communities, listening to their stories and aiming to give something back to those same communities is part of what we've done throughout our existence and will continue to do.
